Servo Actuators

Test Actuator Ranges:

FOX-VPS Hydraulic Test Actuators are available in two distinct ranges, tailored to provide a cost effective solution for all testing requirements. Both ranges are fitted with ultra-low friction seals and are available in a wide range of mounting styles.

F210 Test Actuators:

Rated at 210 bar supply pressure, these actuators are available with either equal (S – symmetric) or unequal (A – asymmetric) areas and are designed for use in low cycle fatigue applications such as airframe and systems testing.  Load ranges between 8kN and 2.2MN are available with equal areas and 8kN to 3.3MN with unequal areas.

F280S Servo Actuators:

Rated at 280 bar supply pressure, these actuators are supplied as standard with equal areas but can be customized to provide unequal areas if required. Fully fatigue rated (>10^8 cycles) they are designed for use in the most arduous of applications such as automotive testing. Load ranges between 11kN and 3MN are available with equal areas.

Mounting Attachments:

Various fixed or rotational mounting styles are available together with a full range of connecting fixtures giving the user maximum flexibility in their test rig design. For more information see the Mounting Attachment section.

Hydrostatic Bearings:

For demanding applications involving lateral piston rod loading, hydrostatic bearings can be fitted to the F280 range of FOX-VPS Hydraulic Servo Actuators.

Design Process:

FOX-VPS Hydraulic Actuators are designed and are fully documented to meet our ISO9001 quality assurance requirement. 3 dimensional actuator data is available in STEP and IGES formats, others are available on request.

Construction and Materials:

FOX-VPS Hydraulic Actuators are designed around the well proven Clamp Ring principle which has been used successfully in fatigue testing applications for over 50 years.  Actuator tubes are manufactured from either ASTM A513 Grade 1026 or DIN2393 ST52-3BK, and finished to 0.4µm max.  Other load train components are manufactured from AISI4340/BS970 817M40 or equivalent and all fasteners are grade 12.9 socket head cap screws.

Custom Designed Actuators:

Utilising many years of experience FOX-VPS offer special Actuators and Cylinders designed specifically for applications where one of the above types may not be suitable.  The requirement may be for lightweight construction and to fit into restricted envelope dimensions necessitating a unique design.

Servo Valve Manifolds:

FOX-VPS Hydraulic Actuators are supplied fitted as standard with a manifold block incorporating an ISO 10372 Size 04 servo valve interface.  Alternative manifolds are available with accumulator ports, multiple/different valve interfaces or hydraulic safety circuits.  More detail is available here.

Feedback Transducers:

All FOX-VPS Hydraulic Actuators are designed for the direct fitment of INTERFACE load cells either at the piston rod or earth ends and can be fitted with optional load train pre-tensioning plates if required. The design also allows for the co-axial fitment of a Magnetostrictive linear displacement transducer. Alternatively an LVDT can be accommodated, as can other strain gauge load cell measuring devices if required.

Finish:

FOX-VPS Hydraulic Actuators have a blue twin pack polyurethane paint finish as standard, an optional Fe/Zn8/A clear passivate Zinc plated finish is also available.
